scared out of my mind
I have only had a few days to understand what is going to happen to me and I feel either completely scared out of my mind or I am in denial of what is really going to happen. I should be use to surgery down their cause I have had 4 c-sections and a ablation done. I have not packed any bags or told my children what is going to happen. I havent even figured out what I am doing with my children when I am in the hospital. I dont know what is going on, I usually got everything figured out to the tee and back ups in place. I so scared of the day before becuase i have to do a bowel prep and I cant eat anything of substance the day before and I got really sick to my stomach if I dont eat. I have to work that day and I am up early so eating is very important. My surgery is not schedule until 2 pm in the afternoon. That is a long time with no food. This whole thing has got me on egde. I feel really alone right now. tarmandd

Re: scared out of my mind
Sweetie, you are not alone. Not on this site!
I am so sorry you have to have a hysterectomy. Being nervous, frightened, and emotional all at once is very normal. We are here for you - we know how you feel.
Talk to our doctor about you getting sick if you don't eat. I have that issue too, and they allowed me to drink clear juice and fluids up to 7 AM of the morning of my surgery which was at 11 AM. In fact, they wanted me to push fluids. I also did a bowel cleanse the day before and was on a clear liquid diet after 12 PM.
You will need help with your kids while you are in the hospital and also during recovery - maybe 3 weeks. You will also need help around the house - cooking, cleaning, dishes, shopping, driving, etc. Can family, friends, or neighbors lend a hand?
(((Hugs)))

Re: scared out of my mind
Oh you poor darling
I remember that feeling only a month ago. It's quite daunting handing yourself over to another and being completely in their hands. Although I had no problems with the fasting, the feeling of loneliness was there. Keep reading forum posts because it really helps knowing that others have been in the same situation.
Good luck and blessings

Re: scared out of my mind
It's pretty scary about this time, but I can tell you from the other side that it will be over before you know it!! We all totally understand what you are feeling and it's completely normal. Maybe take the time today to make a list of what you need to do, and then go down the list one by one. One thing I have learned through an extremely difficult two years of life challenges is this: people want to help. If you reach out to your friends or family, 90% of the time they will surprise you with their willingness to step up. Don't be afraid to reach out Hang in there, and remember, most of the time it's the anticipation that's the worst.

Re: scared out of my mind
This site is a wonderful blessing. From my experience, the only women who truly understand are other women who have gone through or are going through a hysterectomy.
This is unlike any other medical experience I have been through. And you just never know what emotions will come up next.
Take care, sweetie. We will get you through this.

Re: scared out of my mind
take a breath....i felt the same way....but i'm 8 days post op and sitting at work right now, wearing my pre - op jeans and I feel great... i had the magnesium citrate as my bowel prep, and it wasn't bad at all... so i'm hoping for you, a prep as easy as mine and a recovery as easy as mine has been so far.... busy yourself getting things in order and you won't have to think about it so much......good luck and keep us posted

I'm in the same situation as you! I feel scared too! I'm so incredibly nervous and the best we can do is be strong!
