One week post op DVH pain

I had davinci one week ago. I'm still having significant abdominal pain. I only have three pain pills left and am getting a little nervous. Should I still be needing them this far out? I guess I thought I wouldn't. I'm having no bleeding at all, BM ok, incisions are mostly painless. Just a lot of internal pain. I'm resting all day and not lifting or anything so I guess I thought my pain would be mostly subsided by now? Am I being unrealistic or should I ask for more meds? For some reason that makes me really nervous to ask

Re: One week post op DVH pain

If you are feeling significant pain, you need to contact your doctor and let them know anyway. Chances are that if you explain that your pain is not improving, they may offer you more medication or offer to change your medication. They may even want you to come in. Please don't just suffer and wonder. Pain gets in the way of healing properly. That is why they give you pain medication in the fist place. The worst they can do is say no, and I bet they won't do that.

Re: One week post op DVH pain

I'm 1 week post op too ( had the davinci).. I am very fortunate not to having any pain..I do take Advil just before bed" just in case. I would definitely call doc if you're having pain. My surgery was last tue and I went back to work mon for a few hours and then increased hrs yesterday and today..I sit at desk it is not taxing physically..but..I think I've over extended..I start feeling feverish after about 4 hours..the other issue is this puffy belly which I'm reading is normal but it is such a surprise since I thought the loss of my very large uterus would make my belly go own. Since I'm self employed I do need to keep working but am scaling back hours some more. I come right home and get in bed for most of evening.. i think ill take advil to work with me tomorrow. I would definitely suggest not returning to work week after surgery if you can
