I know its diff for everyone, but for those of you that have already had your preop what all was done? I read somewhere on hystersysters that someone had an ultrasound. Is that protocol? Did you talk with Dr or just hospital staff?

Re: pre-op apt

Hi I had a vag. Ultrasound at my Gyno pre-op. It hurt like heck! My Gyno just wanted to confirm the previous findings. Also I dont have to do a Preop at the hospital...my regular doctor did it all. I am not if it is standard protocol or not.

Re: pre-op apt

I did not have an ultrasound at my pre-op - but I had already had one during the diagnosis phase after my doc found my mass. I also had an MRI during this phase.

For the pre-op, it was blood work, EKG, blood pressure, and other health screening. There were also hospital particulars.

Good luck to you.

Re: pre-op apt

Mine is Thursday morning, so I could let you know more then. I got a call from a nurse at the hospital today and we chatted for about an hour about all my health info, history, etc...They said I should expect 1 hour with the Dr. and one hour with the hospital on Thursday morning. Looks like we're just a couple of days apart! Stayin' positive:-)

Re: pre-op apt

I had the option of pre-op tests either at the hospital or at my primary Dr's office. I chose my primary Dr. They wrote on my paperwork though that I need a chest xray, EKG and labs. When the scheduled called me about all the dates and such, she just mentioned labs. I questioned that, stating I thought it would be EKG and chest xray, she said GYN hadn't written that down but she would ask. I'm glad I did, as when my paperwork came in the mail, it was all listed there.

I have a pre op visit with the GYN on June 5 - but if it's much lke my pre-op for the D & C it was a brief meeting about possible risks, what to expect etc.

Re: pre-op apt

My first pre op was just a regular exam with tons of questions and instructions. He did pelvic exam too, and there was bloodwork he set up for the hospital to do once I got there the day of. That was it for my pre op.

Re: pre-op apt

So, I figured I'd report back about my experiences, though they do seem different than some. I first got a very nice phone call from someone at the hospital surgery scheduling. We talked for about an hour about all my health stuff/general info. She was really sweet and chatty, so it probably woudn't normally be that long;-) Then, the next day, I saw my Dr. and she just had me sign a few simple forms about the procedure and answered any questions I had. Then I went to the hospital and finished up registration and had my blood drawn. That was it. Very simple, very easy. And everyone was very nice and helpful. I think it bodes well:-) Surgery on MONDAY at 1pm. Here we go! Thinking of all the rest of you in it with me...hope it goes well and smoothly for all of us. Take care and stay positive:-)
