Had my hysteroscopy today

Things went rather well considering how scared I was when I arrived. The vaginal sonogram part was the most painful. Thankfully, it didn't last long. The hysteroscopy was quick and painless. The doctor didn't see any fibroids, polyps, cancer, etc. So, now, I'm waiting on my doctor to get back to me and let me know what he advises I do to stop these heavy cycles. I'm more open to trying the ablation process than I was before

Glad to hear they didn't find anything scary. You are very brave!! I had a hysteroscopy and D&C under general anesthesia. Here's hoping they can do something to make the heavy bleeding stop -- Good luck!

Had my hysteroscopy today

Hi Stacey,

I had an ablation last year and for me it was a very easy procedure. It was much, much easier than my normal period. It didn't work for me because of other problems we didn't know I had, but I sure don't regret trying it first. I'm the only one of 4 gals in my circle of friends that have needed a hyst after their ablation. 2 have never had another period and the other has just very light periods now.

Because this is a hyst site, there are lots of failed ablation stories here, but I assure you there are lots of success stories out there as well. I hope you are one of them! This site may have some helpful info for you while you explore your options:Endometrial Ablation Discussion Group

Please keep us posted on what you decide and how you're doing.
Sending best wishes & s,
Beth

Beth:

Thank you for the link and the insight to the reason for hearing so many failed ablation stories here! I am leaning more towards doing this as each day passes. Thanks again.

Had my hysteroscopy today

Finally I found the topic I have been looking for! I am supposed to have a D& C asap and am so scared. She hasn't decided if she will do a hysteroscopy or not.

Sorry to hear but glad to know you guys were scared, too, before your procedure. (The thought of a hysterectomy is literally keeping me awake at night. I can't face that decision yet)

Can you tell me about the D & C. How painful mainly, and how you felt afterwards.

BTW, I've never had children so I'm just not used to having anyone digging around in "that area".

Thank you all!

Annette
