Just wondering

My LAVH is scheduled for April 4th. I have not told my job about the surgery yet,. When should I let them know I will be out for awhile? I really don't want the busybodies at my office asking me questions. I am more of a quite private person.

Re: Just wondering

Hi Acam Any chance you can just tell your boss or HR? Tell them in private and they should have to keep your information private. Do you need a temp to fill your job? Of course there is always the None of Your Business.

Re: Just wondering

I understand your reasons for wanting to keep it private or on a "need to know basis". On the other hand .. If you were the boss, surely you would want your employees to let you know as soon as possible so you can prepare for their absence?
Please also keep in mind that peope who "do know" really do want to offer help and support. But whichever way you decide to go.. I am sure everything will work out fine!!

We have alot of floats that can fill in so that isn't a problem. I guess I will just let HR know. I forgot about them. Funny how you forget about the obvious when you're thinking about surgery Thank you for the insight So hard to think
about work, family and the million other things.

Re: Just wondering

It's important to let them know as soon as possible. It'll make it easier for them to line up floaters to help with the work while you're off. I told only necessary people and although everyone knew I would be off almost nobody knew why.
Good luck.
