Upcoming hysterectomy on 1/16 - Made Big Decision: Want Ovaries Removed!

I am having a TLH on 1/16 ( I can't figure out how to add my date to my profile ).

I was going to keep my ovaries, as my PCP and oncologist did not feel I should have them removed. I am 46. Well, I had never smokers lung cancer at age 43 which kills more ladies than breast cancer you just don't hear about it because we are usually diagnosed too late and are dead. Anyhow I will not be able to take hormones. But oh well!

My guy instinct at first was to remove them then I decided not too. After doing even more research and the role that estrogen plays in my lung cancer I would be dumb to leave them.

Wish me luck! I am so excited to have this surgery and be done with this nasty submucosal fibroid causing pain, clotting, flooding, etc.

Hi Almita. I understand the big decision about whether to keep your ovaries or not. Cancer runs in my family and and my doctor was concerned about how much the chance of cancer goes after 60 -- so out they came. I can't do HRT either -- I have been very fortunate not to be plagued with Hot flashe or night swets. I do deal with the brain fog and insomnia so we are workig on those issues.

If you go to the user cp you should be able to add your hysterectomy date.

I would like to invite you to join us on your Post op Recovery Thread. You will be able to meet more of your "sisters" having surgery next week and travel this journey together. It is a place to be encouraged, ask those question you can't ask anywhere else, and it will give you a change to encourage others along the way.
