Re: adhesions?

Adhesions are basically scar tissue. Any type of surgery produces scar tissue. From what I understand, the scar tissue sort of like webs out and adheres itself to other organs, and when this happens it is called adhesions. I'm not sure exactly how they check for adhesions,,,ultrasound, laprascopy???? I know that when I was around 24 years old, I had a vaginal infection that traveled to my falopian (sp) tubes, at that time I ran a bad fever and was admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics, a week or so later the gyn did a laprascopic exploratory, found lots of adhesions and had to cut them apart and rearrange the organs to thier proper place. So, an infection can also cause adhesions.
Have you tried to google on hystersisters (adhesions)?
Sorry, I couldn't be more help.
Best Wishes
Carol

Re: adhesions?

I has adhesions (scar tissue) from two c-sections. My bladder and uterus were stuck together from them. I had a lot of pain because of them. I opted for the da Vinci Hysterectomy because it can go deeper so my dr could get to all the adhesions.

Re: adhesions?

Can you get adhesions from having a da vinci? I don't have pain but I have bloating (not same as swelly belly ) and I'm still having major bowel issues. I had my surgery way back in February.

Re: adhesions?

Adhesions are normal after surgery. I would talk to your dr. Surgery is required to get rid of adhesions. I can tell a huge difference now that mine are done-I don't feel so bloated. If you have the surgery, I would ask the OB/GYN to do it not the general surgery because the OB/GYN is more experienced in dealing with adhesions downt here-just my personal opinion.

Yes, you can get adhesions after the da Vinci but you have a smaller chance than people who don't have the daVinci.
