LAVH Feels like I have to pee all the time after hysterectomy

I had this last Friday and Sunday. It was worse in the morning. Not a lot of pain, just immediate urge and then a teaspoon would come out. I also had these symptoms in March after a LEEP surgury. I ended up thinking it was a UTI, Dr gave me antibiotics, but culture ended up coming back negative. I started researching on here and someone lead me to the IC site which is what I believe the problem to be.

My doctor also told me that these flare ups are normal after surgery and called them bladder spasms. One of the 'home' remedies was to drink a tablespoon of baking soda and water (apparently you shouldn't do this if you have high blood pressure or heart problems due to the sodium in the baking soda). The baking sode neutralized excess acid which can cause sensitive bladders to spasms. I drank baking soda with water twice on Sunday and my symptoms have VANISHED !! Completely gone. If your doctor says it's ok, I think it may be worth a try. I actually had pH strips and I tested my urine, it was acidic prior to baking soda and neutral after.

Its been two months since my surgery and I feel like I have to go alot

So glad I read this ! My catheter came out at midnight after surgery on Monday I've just been sent home and already I'm painfully aware how often I need to go and empty my bladder. Which is not being helped by the fact that I still can't go n my own and my poor husband is having to babysit me to the toilet incase I fall down the stairs I need to climb to get there

I ended up having a bladder infection, then a yeast infection.

leiela if you haven't gone to the bathroom on your own you should call your Dr. you should have never been released if you didn't go on your own before leaving the hospital.
