5 weeks post hysterectomy: I'm doing better but still have pelvic pains that feel like pins and needles

hello everyone, I have been reading a lot of your post and can relate to a lot. I'm doing a lot better than I was. I have went through the abdominal pain, trying to move around, get up, sit down, and walk around. I'm doing a lot better now. I'm able to sit and stand a little longer now. but what I'm still dealing with is the pain in the pelvic area. sometimes it feels like needles or pins are something is sticking me, and severe back pain. I still don't want to put clothes on or have anything that's touching my stomach, its very uncomfortable. 2 days ago I had numbness in my leg feet and arm I don't know if that is dealing with my hysterectomy or not but It didn't start having it until I had it.

Hi,
I think you need to see your Dr asap. Feeling pins and needles and experiencing numbness should always be investigated just to rule out anything untoward. Please take care and let us know how you are going,
Cathy

5 weeks post hysterectomy: I'm doing better but still have pelvic pains that feel like pins and needles

Hi Sweetpea,

I am a bit more than a week ahead of you. I also am getting the pins and needles sensation. It's my understanding from all the reading on here and friends who have had the surgery, that this is quite normal. A lot of nerve regeneration happening inside of us right now. I get so many quirky sensations, but every day is better. I get the full vaginal sensation when I'm tired too. Feelings of little electric shocks in my hips. Truly, the new discoveries I feel everyday now amuse me
Happy recovery! We are getting closer to "normal" everyday.

Re: 5 weeks pist hysterectomy: I'm doing better but still have pelvic pains that feel like pins and needles

Hi Sweetpea! I am New to this site and so Happy to find this site! I am entering my 5th week of recovery and know no one who has gone through this.I had a Vaginal Hysterectomy, keeping my Ovaries, along with a Cystocele and Rectocele repair done on Nov 11th.
I too am experiencing a lot of cramping sensations and abdominal swelling. None of my post-op clothes fit and it's getting me a bit down. I'm hoping this is normal and I'm in the midst of healing. Of course I have a two-year-old and a five-year-old so they are keeping me a little busier than I'd hoped to at this time. I do have help but as I get close to the six weeks it's thinning out. So also just wondering if anybody else is experiencing this at the five-week Mark.
I also had the numbness at my upper thigh, near my bikin line. It seems better now but the nerves regenerating, from a previous post, makes sense to me.
Thank for listening!

Re: 5 weeks pist hysterectomy: I'm doing better but still have pelvic pains that feel like pins and needles

That's the beauty of this site. Can you imagine how many times women had to call their doctors pre-hystersisters.com?????

Yes, I too have the inner and outer thigh numbness and almost a "bruising" feeling at times. Even muscle and back pain is something I never suffered at my age, and now I feel like all I do is rub myself down with analgesic ointment to relieve aches. Chalking it up to tense sleeping. Sure is nothing like smelling like eucalyptus and a pharmacy to keep the poor husband at bay...

Re: 5 weeks pist hysterectomy: I'm doing better but still have pelvic pains that feel like pins and needles

I am 5 weeks out also and while the pins and needle feeling, and the electric shock feeling on one side has subsided, there are still many tinges, twinges and pains that come and go. I definitely feel it is nerves knitting together. The swelling is still there, worse during the evening and night. I think the more we move, the more our insides want to be heard..."hey out there, I'm still healing" My stomach is still numb and feels bruised, but remember what it felt like the first few days....it is slowly, slowly, slowly getting back to normal.

Re: 5 weeks pist hysterectomy: I'm doing better but still have pelvic pains that feel like pins and needles

I am also five weeks out and started feeling the tingling and numbness in my legs and arm starting last week. It calms the nerves to hear that this sounds like for some of us part of the healing process. Most of my clothes are fitting now but anything touching my waist for too long starts to bother me.

This is one interesting recovery process. Each day is a new adventure. Best wishes to all for healthy healing.
