No cervix but having a period 15 months after TAH

I had a TAH RSO in March 2005 to treat endometriosis. It went incredibly well and I was playing soccer within 5 weeks.

I haven't had any complications whatsoever since then.

Sunday, I started bleeding like having a period but not in my 'normal' period fashion. The bleeding got worse and worse. I went to the hospital last night because I was gushing blood and clots every hour and enough within a few seconds to completely soak an overnight maxi.

They tested my hemoglobin levels and they're fine. They confirmed it's coming from my vagina, but both docs there (including 1 gyno) say they don't know why it's happening. My regular gyno is out of town and I have an appt booked with him when he gets back next week. My family doc is out until tomorrow and I'll see her then.

No doctor seems concerned, and I'm actually not concerned either. I knew it might happen with endo when I had the surgery, however, what I'd like to know, is when does the bleeding stop? It seems like it's never-ending. Will it be the length of my old period? Even with my endo before surgery, I was never a heavy bleeder so this is a lot for me.

I can't find anything online that addresses periods in women without cervixes.

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

No cervix but having a period 15 months after TAH

You said you had a total TAH, so no uterus right? I have no uterus and cervix and have been told I might bleed a couple of days after surgery but that was it. Any other bleeding I should call the dr. about. I dont think thats normal! Hope your dr. gets back soon!

I agree, this is not normal.

At my 6 week post op, I just compared gas cramps to my old period cramps and my gyn almost came off his chair, stating, "whoa...wait a minute, there's nothing there to cramp." Likewise, there is also nothing there left to bleed.

Call you gyn or even another gyn and very soon.

Keep us posted and wishing you the best.
