first app after op 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!

I just cant beleive my hospital. After a very crappy miserable stay, where no one was very helpful at all, I received my appointment for my '6' week check. After working dates out I will be 3 months post op. Furious I rang my consultants secretary and said this just wasnt good enough I needed answers off my consultant. I didnt even see him after my op!!!!!!!!!! She told me there was nothing she could do as they are fully booked.
Sorry for ranting but Im so annoyed!!!!!!!!! Am I not important, I have just gone through the biggest thing ever in my life and no one seems to care, just another statistic!!!!!!!

first app after op 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!

I know the system in England is different than the US, but 3 months does seem like an inordinate amount of time to wait for a post op check.

Is there a way to get checked out by another doctor, other than the surgeon? Do you have GPs (general practitioners or primary care docs that might give you some guidance if you can't get in with the surgeon?)

Also, when I have a long wait to see a doc, I always have them put me on the cancellation list...that will usually move the appointment up some.

Hope you get this thing resolved.

I'm sorry Sarah, that totally blows. 3 months is a long time to wait to find out if you are all better or not. I'm surprised your doc didn't see you before you were discharged. I think I'd file a complaint if that were an option.

Dear Sarah I'm really sorry that you had a bad experience in hospital. Do you need your consultant to tell you that you are fit to go back to work? Maybe your GP can do that? I have much more faith in my GP than in the hospital system although I went privately for my op I had seen my surgeon both privately and on the NHS. I think that we probably are just statistics to them as they do many of these ops in a week plus delivering babies etc. I was upset that my consultant said that he would phone me last week to see how I was. He did not. I think that I would write to the hospital and say that the three month wait is unacceptable and try to get a cancellation. Try to get your GP to answer some of your concerns and worries or post them here. Best wishes.
