worrying!!

I just called my doctor about the eye infection worries - she said they will give me antibiotics during surgery and for 48 hours after, and to stop worrying!
Tonight I will have a good cry of stress relief! I'm finally ready to trust God with my life, my surgery, my recovery, my future, my family, ....I guess to process it allI have to go through all of the emotions, ask all of my questions, and talk out my anxieties and fears.
Laurie, Glady, Shout...keep searching Hyster Sisters and you will get everything you need. I am SO thankful you all are here!! to you all!

worrying!!

Hi Joanne,

Yes, the best is to tell the doctor exactly what you need. My preop appoinment was a blur. My date is 2 days before yours and I am in San Diego as well. Would it be funny if we are at the same hospital or have the same surgeon??? Good luck to you. I have a journal that I write down everything that scares me about this thing. It has helped me. I don't know if you are the journal kind but if you can get it out, it is much easier to deal with! Good luck!

I feel like I'll cry easily, but I know that's because I'm stuffing my anxieties and not talking about it - I feel like my family and DH must be tired of hearing about my surgery since I've talked about it so much over the past 2 months. I know that's what you all are here for, so here I am again!

I have had an eye infection for a month - excuse the graphics, but green gunk, mostly in the morning, not pink eye; the first round of prescribed drops didn't work, so I've been using different antibiotic drops for 2 weeks. It's better but not completely gone. I've told my PC Dr. for months that I have a history of chronic sinus infections - I had surgery in 1988, and I believe scar tissue has built up and there's 'lurking bacteria' because of allergies. She hasn't honored my requests to see an ENT Dr, and I believe she thinks I'm just a whiner and hypochondriac.
At the pre-op the nurse said to be sure I'm not sick or have any cold symptoms, and I don't know what to do. Would it be right to call the GYN who is doing the SAH and ask for a round of antibiotics just to be sure? I don't know if they would do that - I'm a new patient and she doesn't know my history.

Sorry to write a book - Laurie, you're lucky you're a nurse and have friends you can trust to take good care of you. I've had lots of waiting time, too, and have been able to prepare a lot - clean the house, to-do lists, 'honeydo' lists - be sure to go to the different posts like What to bring to the Castle, what questions to ask the dr., tips for the family, etc. This site is a Godsend!

Thanks to all of the sisters for being here

Joanne
