question about bowels

I know I am having bowel troubles, three days with no BM's. My question is, will you have right and left flank pain with bowel pain? I know my left flank pain is bowel pain. When will you bowels finally readjust and get back to normal, I am four weeks post op now.

First off I want to say you gotta love this site. Where else can one log on a see a heading 'question about bowels' and not blink an eye.

My bowel pains are all over, left and right. It is a sharp pain which seems to fill up my entire abdomen before a bm or fart.

Maybe someone else can answer better than I did...?

I must say, I have not passed gas hardly at all since the first week of surgery but I have burped frequently. And I have to agree, only here can we ask about bowel movements, LOL!!

My LAVH was this past Monday-- the gas pain was HORRIBLE-- hurt in my chest/back/shoulders/head! Then it just went away-- I'm still having problems with BM :-(

I am one week post op and I too am still having bowel problems with stabbing pains and hard stool. I have been taking stool softeners for one week and still are big and hard. lol.

Well I'm 5 days post op and the gas is still bad. My Dr said gas x and it is helping. FINALLY had BM and that was relief only after Dr said buy delcolax suppositoriesAsk your Dr Still vary uncomfortable in incision just Lotta pressure. Hopefully you will get some relief soon

I think the bowel issue was the hardest part of this surgery. Not to scare you all - but it seriously took me a good 5 weeks to start to be 'normal' again - and oh my - those gas pains were the worst. Made me want to cry out sometimes. I highly recommend stool softners - sometimes 2 a day, and Miralax.

But I'm almost 4 months out (wow - amazing to say!) and it does get back to normal - which there was a time I never thought it would! Hang in there - this site is the best!
