What exactly am I allowed to do?

I'm 4 days post-op and am wondering what exactly I'm allowed to do. Am I allowed to shuffle my body position in bed by using my legs? Am I allowed to pick something off the floor? Am I allowed to sit down? Am I allowed to streatch? I know I'm not allowed to drive or lift or do anything strenious, but am I allowed to do certain everyday things? Thanks ladies...

What exactly am I allowed to do?

11 days post op & I'm moving around pretty good. I try to walk around the house, I live in MN so its hard to walk outside, and go up & down my stairs about 5 times a day. I find the more I move around (within reason) the better I feel as if I lay down my entire body gets really stiff & its hard to move. When I get up in the morning I'm so stiff I can barely walk but after about an hour of being up I feel much better. Alot of ladies are doing way more/better than I am & have ventured out shopping or to lunch & are doing good but I haven't reached that stage yet. Your body will tell you what you can & can't handle - just listen to it - good luck

What exactly am I allowed to do?

Hi there! No bending down to pick up something off the floor!! I found stretching hurt the first time I tried, so none of that! Yes, you can sit down, just be sure to use your arms to lift yourself out of a chair. Good luck!

What exactly am I allowed to do?

Put a good solid chair right up beside your bed to use to help yourself out of bed. The back of the chair should be closest to the bed. That was one of the best tips I got before surgery. Use your legs and butt to scoot close to the edge, start to lower your legs and grab the back of the chair and use your arms to push yourself up. You won't use your abs at all.

You can certainly get out of bed and move. You need to for circulation and healing. Just walk to the nearest recliner and relax. Get up occasionally to use the bathroom or walk around the house. Then sit back down. Do this for a week and your healing will be well underway.

What exactly am I allowed to do?

Bending over caused me to start spotting this week. It didn't hurt at all so I didn't think I was doing any harm. I was told only 2 round trips on the stairs - which can be difficult as I would prefer to be downstairs! lol But alas, no bathroom there.

You might find it helpful to read the checkpoints we have written about what is okay/not okay for the weeks of recovery. Click on the Checkpoints tab that is at the upper, left of your screen!

Best wishes to you for a super recovery! As a new do as you can, plenty of water, and !

I lived and died by the checkpoints. I printed them off twice and put one on the fridge and one on the mirror over my vanity (in the bedroom).
