1 ovary

I am curious and have a few questions. My dr. is going to only take 1 ovary. He said that i wont have to take hormones for that reason. Wondered will i still go through menopause. Never asked him that. Will i feel the same with just one? He said that i should, but he is a man and has never gone through it. Thanks, Ashley

i am having only one ovary removed today.i was told that i am keeping the other one to prevent me from going through mental-pause.

One ovary is as good as two-the other is essentially a spare. I know several women with one ovary ; My mother had one ovary removed with her hyst and she went into menopause at the normal time.

Your doctor has had enough experience with patients with one ovary to know how they fare. Just because a doctor is female doesn't mean she has gone through the same situation or that she experienced the same effects.

I have only one ovary, and I can't say its any different to having two I lost the other one because of adhesions 5 years prior to the hyst. The only thing is it did switch off for a little while after the hyst, but that soon resolved itself
