Red, itchy rash on abdomen

I am 7 days post op from TAH. I have clusters of red bumps on my abdomen, groin area and now under my arms that has gotten progressively worse. At first I thought it was a reaction from the tape on the bandage on my incision. My dr told me to use an anti-itch cream. It has now spread and my dr thinks it might be a yeast infection. Using monostat but doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

What are you allergic too? Can you try taking benadryl ? I would be calling the doctor back with it getting worse...he might need to look at the rash.

Re: Red, itchy rash on abdomen

As far as I know, I'm not allergic to anything. I took benadryl to sleep last night. It did the trick but the rash is not any better. I applied the monostat again this morning. If it's not better by 2:00 I will be calling doctor. Was hoping someone had a similar experience because skin rashes can be tricky to diagnose.

Re: Red, itchy rash on abdomen

I'm allergic to everything....the iodine they washed my tummy with left a purple rash..it was kinda pretty...they put tape on my incision and it left blisters..then I broke out in hives after taking the percosets. The iodine and tape was listed on my chart and wrist band. Our bodies are given so many different drugs from this surgery...it's a miracle that everyone doesn't come out with a rash of some kind. Your doing the right thing...keeping a close eye on it and keeping the doctor informed. Good luck to yea!!
