Surgery Day Monday-what to take????

I read this so much on the treads (this one as well). So I have to ask. Most everyone of you have mentioned lip balm. I have to ask why? Is it just a personal thing, or is it something about being in a hospital that dries the lips.

Coming out of anesthesia, your lips, mouth, etc. will be excessively dry - parched. When my husband saw me, he immediately asked the nurse for vaseline. He didn't even know that I had brought my own chapstick.

After the first couple of hours, I was fine without it. Since I knew looks would not be my top priority, I took a lip balm from Avon that had a color tint to it.

I forgot that I also used vaseline! My daughter looked at my lips when I was coming out of recovery and she immediately asked the nurse for vaseline, also! Not only were my lips dried and cracked, but my mouth and throat were dry the entire time I was there. Boy, did I drink the water! Poor nurses had to fill up my pitcher every 1/2 hour!
