Hi Everyone,
I'm six days out of abdominal hysterectomy. Pain is minimal, am up walking around, sitting outside, etc.
Does anyone know how long it takes until you go into menopause if both your ovaries were removed? Also, any suggestions about hormone replacement therapy? I would like to try natural, but my doctor is against it. Don't know why....yet.
Also, when my bladder gets full, it's painful...is this because of all the swelling in there?
Staples come out tomorrow. Hope this isn't painful...I've had enough pain for one week!!
God Bless & Prayers for all,

Hi Oceanbreeze,
YES I have internal pain when I have a full bladder, too. I guess I take solace in that it feels better after I urinate so I consider this temporary. Also... stiches and staples out doesn't hurt a bit. My only pain was having to recline on the exam table. I wish I had brought a pillow. Good luck to you. I'm in week 3 and FINALLY feeling better.

HI Oceanbreeze,
I had TAH/BSO and had a couple of hot flashes while still in the hospital but it seemed like it took a couple of weeks until I really started noticing them while trying to sleep.
I'm not doing any hrt since I had endo and my doctor said the endo would feed on hormones and come back and I certainly don't want that. Between that and a strong family history of breast cancer I'm trying to do this without hrt. There's a great forum here for no ovaries, no hormones which you may find helpful.
My dr. suggested estroven to help with hot flashes, etc and I've been taking it for about a month but don't really see a difference.
Hope this helps.
