Water Retention (12 pounds in 2 days)

Hi Sisters

I have just returned hom from the Castle for the 3rd time since my LAVH on May 25th. AARRGG.. Ended up back in the ER Saturday night and had emergency surgery Sunday Morning.
It had been nice after the origanal surgery to lose a few pounds and then I went in for the bladder problem for 5 days and lost a few more, NOW went in on Saturday night had abcesses and my bladder had adhered to the abdomanal wall. They fixed it all and I can home last night, But I guess the IVs caused 12 pounds of water weight gain. It is making me so uncomfortable.

How much is too much retention? I am still supposed to be leaving for CA tomorrow. Getting scared!!

Aww, sweetie, it sounds like you've been through the wringer here recently. But, 12 pounds of fluid is probably feasible at this point. Your body went through the major upheaval of abdominal surgery, not once but twice, in a very short time. All of the IVs included, I'd have probably gained about 20! But, I think it merits a call to your doc. Let him know about the sudden weight gain, and that you're concerned about what it would be.
