Sleeping? Is it ok to sleep exclusively on my back?

I can't seem to get comfortable on my sides I have tried pillows different beds and walking to get tired. My doctor really didn't say if sleeping on my back is bad. Do any of you have suggestions?

Sleeping? Is it ok to sleep exclusively on my back?

Hi Jem

I don't think it matters how you sleep, as long as you get sleep!

You need lots of rest in the early days so it is vital to find out what works for you.

Hugs

Sleeping? Is it ok to sleep exclusively on my back?

Thanks Katy
I am scared because I don't want to get a clot. I am 32 and had a TAH no ovaries left. I lost one when I had my daughter 7yrs ago and the other with the TBA It is uncomfortable on my sides and my back is the only way I sleep but I am up walking at least 2x a night.

You don't say what kind of procedure you had. After my abdominal hysterectomy, I found sleeping on my back most comfortable. I used a pillow under my knees, which I don't usually. Now that I can sleep on my sides again too, I find that using a pillow between my legs helps.

The pillow under the knees when on the back and between when on the side has helped me
Also when on my back I sleep with a couple pillows under my upper torso/head.

Honestly the clot issue comes from not moving your legs around enough from what I understand. Sleeping on your back is only bad if you are pregnant. ( I hope that doesn't offend anyone) You are find to sleep any way you like. If you are that concerned though you can always call your doc to be sure. But like everyone said you can sleep how every you are most comfortable.

Best of luck,
Cristy

thanks

thank you to all of you that have replied. you have set my mind at ease. I had a TAH on NOv. 5th. I am moving my legs plenty. I try and walk a little every hour. I have sourness in my back and thighs, i think because i am not moving as much as i am use to. i didn't think i would need a website like this but it has been very useful and calming, thank you ladies!
