The 6 week check up?

This is the next hurdle I have to jump in this process, the internal exam. Then after that, I figure it is intercourse for the first time since surgery.

I am definitely not looking forward to the internal exam either, but I figure I will get through it. And hopefully that will be the last one for a LONG time.

The 6 week check up?

Library Diva, not to be too nosy, but did you have a 'total' hyst (cervix went too)? That is the only time you need to worry about a vag-cuff incision as far as I know. You probably know that but I wasn't sure if they did Totals with Davinci technique.

The 6 week check up?

Yep, the cervix is gone as well. All I have left is one lonely little ovary. My doctor is an Ongologist and says since he is a cancer doc, he takes the cervix along with the uterus.

Just back from my 6 week check up..

I was nervous too. The Dr. checked my incision and did an internal. I didn't mind it at all and was very pleased to hear that I am healing remarkably well. He wants me to wait two more weeks for intercourse, but all other restrictions have been lifted. I hope that your exam goes as well as mine did.

The 6 week check up?

I had my post-op exam at 6 weeks. She did both types of internal exam--first with the speculum and then manually--neither hurt a bit. She even had to do the silver nitrate bit for a granuloma on the vaginal cuff. She said it might hurt, but it didn't. It was a really good experience because she gave me the go ahead to resume things with my husband and I left her office knowing that I wasn't tender inside--it made that first time a lot less worrisome for us both.

Re: The 6 week check up?

I am going into my 7th week post op from a total vaginal hysterectomy with an a and p repair. At 6 weeks my Dr did a manual exam and told me I could resume normal activity including intercourse. But when I tried intercourse it was somewhat painful. Felt almost like I still had stitches and like they ripped. Hadn't been bleeding for about 2 weeks at this point. But after intercourse there was a little blood is this normal? Or do I need to call Doc? The pain was at a and p repair site

Re: The 6 week check up?

Though you could certainly call the office just to be sure......it just sounds like a little too much rubbing on a tender spot. From what I have read, a little spotting that stops is probably ok, just hold off on intercourse another week or two. Actual bleeding is more of a concern.
It never hurts to call and check with the nurse at the office.

I am 5 mos. post and still sore, but more at the opening (vaginismus-like). We got the go-ahead at 8 weeks but we were both apprehensive....and things are far from 100% in the intercourse dept. I think some of it is nerves.....
