five weeks BE CAREFUL

I am ending week 4 tomorrow and entering week 5. I am feeling better but still get sore if overdoing it. What exactly is overdoing it and is it different for everyone. I find that the hardest thing that I have gone through since the surgery was the excruciating pain in my vaginal area and rectum. I had a TAH and rectocele repair, as well as cystocele repair. NOT looking forward to ever having to do that again, so I definitly want to heal right the first time. The thing is that I just feel completely helpless right now. Is this normal? I am sad sometimes, but most of the time, I am just tired. My right hip hurts sometimes as well, but I know that I have sciatica, so I just assumed that is what it is. Your hip pain could be referred pain in your sciatic nerve because of the nerves that are healing though, I suppose.

Don't get discouraged! Everyday you will feel better. You already understand the most important thing in all of this. . . you have only one chance to heal correctly. If it means doing nothing. . . why not enjoy the time off!! I've been out of work 7 weeks now. I'm starting to feel more like myself because I did virtually nothing for most of those 7 weeks. I go back to work Thursday. I know from what I've heard from the other Princesses, I expect to be exhausted!! So be it! I plan to land on the couch everyday after work as I need to!!
As for feeling helpless, do what I did, I cleaned out junk drawers (sitting down), organized pictures in albums (stretched out on the bed), and invited friends over to visit that I normally don't see often because of work. Remember... this recovery is a temporary condition, use the time to your advantage to get well.
So keep your chin up! We all got through that dreaded week 5 and so will you! Keep me posted as to how you feel!

My back is not hurting really, I am just still having a lot of "pulling" in my belly and vaginal/rectal area. I know that it continues to get somewhat better, it is just a long ordeal.

5 weeks yesterday, went back to work at week 3.. really had no other option. Anyone else having problems w/ anxiety? As I said in an e-mail to my friend this morning.. I just want to go to Mexico and never return. Live 4 hours away from an aweome part of Mex. and I swear if I knew more Spanish I may just act on my thoughts! I know it's all crazy talk but sometimes I want to get away from the pressures of life. Thx for letting me vent!
God Bless,
Skye

I am at my 2 weeks stage, feeling pretty good though, and am about to make my first trip back to work tomorrow, only for a few hours. Like you I am experiencing the hip and leg pain. (so bad that it wakes me up during the night, it is my left side). Wondering what this about, maybe because I've been laying around so much...Anyone else experiencing this problem. By the way, this is my first post ever and I hope I am doing in correctly.

five weeks BE CAREFUL

I'm at five weeks with relatively no problems along the way other than some bowel issues (typical). I have been behaving myself to the letter, heeding the warning about having only one chance to heal properly. My doctor didn't give me any instructions/restrictions whatever (besides no intercourse) at my 2-week appt and I have my 6-week coming up and not sure what he will say. One thing that I am wondering about is whether the night-time tossing and turning might result in something being pulled. I make sure I behave during the day, but have little control over the night-time contortions. Because of night sweats, I just continuously turn over, throw off the covers, grab them back on again, etc etc. Just hope the night acrobats don't get the best of me. I wonder when it's going to be completely safe to move any which way again?

No OTC meds touch it at all - it is a waste to take them. I cannot do abdominal exercises yet. Also, I am still having a discharge. Will I have to wear pads forever??? I am feeling pretty sorry for myself.
I also had a TVH (kept ovaries) and a bladder sling. I also had terrible back pain and also cramping for 4 days. Remembered reading something about someone saying that this was because of the stitches dissolving so assumed that was the cause for the pain. Prescription pain meds also crossed my mind but had no prescription for them since mine was only for 4 days worth. Feeling a lot better now though. I am also having a small amount of discharge...a mini pad a day worth. Will hopefully end soon. Hang in there okay! Aren't you grateful for this wonderful site! So glad I came across it! Hugs!
