concerned
I had a complete hysterectomy almost a month ago. I'm had an abdominal cut. I'm getting really worried about how long the swelling will last. I'm also concerned about the weight. I just lost 17lbs and I don't want to gain it back. What can I do to prevent this from happening? When will I be able to get back into normal clothes? Please help me im getting scared

Re: concerned
I don't know a lot about abdominal hysterectomies, other than they take a lot longer to heal. The swelly belly can last quite awhile. Drink plenty of water, and try to walk as much as possible. At your 6 week checkup, talk to you doctor about getting back into a workout routine. Hang tight hun, you had major surgery and it hasn't even been a month (((hugs)))

Re: concerned
Stop worrying.. I did the same.. Lost weight then ended up with a huge belly.. I'm 5 weeks and its starting to go Down.. Now it looks as though I have a pot belly but is a tiny bit swollen.. You will put on weight as you are doing nothing and that's ok!!! Health or looks? For this time in your life just once forget about how you look and heal.. I'm guessing there will be plenty of time for the gym after...I has a belly incision.

Re: concerned
Thanks to all of you!! I have noticed that drinking a lot of water does help with the swelling. I'm tickled pink that I joined your website. I hope I keep learning from all of you. Thanks!!

Re: concerned
Forget about the weight thing for now and just concentrate on getting well again, tummy will go down eventually. Obviously losing weight is fantastic if its what you want, but healing is the priority. X C
