tubal ligation on may 14 and nothing but problems since

Hi i am new here and just want some input please.i had my tubes burnt and cut on may 14.well about 2 1/2 weeks after that i had my first horrible period of 10 days and very heavy.then i had alot of pain mainly on my right side but it radiates to my groin and my lower back.i can not do normally things not even drive without pain.well they did an ultrasound and found a cyst on my left ovary and multiple on my right with 2 being over 2 cm.well the surgeon refered me to a gyn specialist cause i told him from the get go that yes almost 12 yrs ago i used to have heavy periods and twice a month.he asked my how the cramping was i said i couldn't remember.well since i have been on the bcp for almost 12 yrs it has been straight except when a dr changed it to a progesterone only in 2002 which now i know that screws up your cycle anyways.well when i went to the gyn he trying to get me to do everything but a hysterectomy and i said i don't want to go thru this horrible stuff that i am already experiencing.he said he could just take my troubled ovary out i said that does aleaviate that period problem still.i can't take bcp's although i have been on them, lol the gyn told me because of my migraines with aura i am at higher risk of stroke.i will not have a iud in me and i can't take the depo shot as it screwed me up and the rods in the arm are the same thing as the shot.well he wants me to go thru another cycle and said make sure i think long and hard about surgery. i was in the medical field for a while so i understand that and i have had major knee surgery.i would rather weight the risks of surgery with the long term benefits.he did another ultrasound and they were still there.i am going back on july 1.this is miserable.it hurts even to go to the restroom right after i get pain where your ovary is.i just wanted to get some advice from people that have had a hysterectomy or have had tubals and have experienced stuff like this.oh i mentioned the post tubal ligation syndrome and he shuned it of course.he said more than likely it is because people come off of pills and their cycles go back to the way it was before so he contradicted himself about me.when i said i was already experience my old periods or is it the ptls. ok well thanks in advance.oh and if anyone knows of any md's that believe in this ptls syndrome in the central texas area (waco, temple, killeen, copperas cove) that would be helpfull too.

Wow, I hope you get some answers! I had a tubal and an ablation and have had pain ever since. It's not debilitating, but annoying. I never thought that it might have been related to the tubal. I've heard alot of people having a tubal and having period problems afterwards.

A snip snip on a man doesn't sound so bad does it. I tried to get my DH but he refused. ( He said I might as well have that done while having the ablation. ) URGH

yeah from what i have been researching doctors don't believe in anything related to the tubal ligation.they say it is because of a woman coming off of bcp's and they go back to the way they were before.i have never ever had cysts before. my sister had problems after her tubal and so did my neighbor and both had to have a hysterectomy.my sister also had endometriosus.my neighbor just had horrible problems after tubal and it was only i think one yr after.

My problems did not start until I had my tubes tied 9yrs ago. I'm always having some discomfort on my right side and it gets worse when I'm on my cycle. At times, I my uterus contracts as if I'm giving birth(very painful) For years, I have been complaining to my doctor. He put me on BC, different medications for pain, iron pills for the anemia and suggested the uterine balloon therapy. My anemia did get better. However, the pain and bleeding didn't. The only reason I'm having a hysterectomy now is because when I had my annual check-up this past Feb, I started having prolong bleeding, spotting between cycles and having to use the bathroom more. He did a pelvic exam to only find out that my uterus was enlarged with a good size fibriod.

I had my tubal in january 2004 3 months after giving birth to my 2nd daughter. My periods started getting bad & irregular after that I also had two cysts on my ovaries shortly after that ruptured. My cramps felt like labor pains too and the back and leg pain was horrible. I also started getting alot of pressur in my vagina. So in january of this year I seen My DR. and he put me on BCP & gave me some pamphlets on different types of hysterectomies to look over said if the BCP's dont work come back in 3 months and we will do a hyst. well may 1st I went in and he said that I was a candidate for a vaginal hyst b/c of slight uterine prolapse and the constant irregular painful periods. I told him my cycle's didnt get bad until after my tubal and he said it probably wasnt related so i just said OH WELL! go ahead and do the hyst. so here I am 4 weeks post and feeling better than ever!

tubal ligation on may 14 and nothing but problems since

Hello there,

After reading your post, I had to comment. I had a tubal in 1991, when I was 21. I started having horrible periods after the birth of my daughter 2 years previous. I had tried BCP to help with the problem, heavy bleeding and large clots. I was promised that the tubal would help with the problem, it only made it worst. II couldn't rely on birth control due to my mother history of Breast Cancer. I did not have any pain as far as the procedure goes, but my period got worst. Fast foreward to 2008, a good dr finally discovered that I had a very large fibroid, which he told me will cause the severe labor like cramps. He said that the uterus will contract to get rid of the foriegn object . I had a SAH on 5/12 and feeling okay. I hope you get the answers and the proper treatment that you need.

thanks, yeah i am hoping the gyn will let me make the decision i have already made to have the hysterectomy.he is trying to make me change my mind but there is nothing i can do and i am not gonna live with this junk, especially if the cysts keep coming back.which with the more and more research i have been doing after having a tubal i have more of a chance of more.i have been having lots of pain in my left side today when before it was very little.now it is just like my right side.i don't know if this cyst is growing as i have them in both of my ovaries.i just don't know if i should keep my ovaries or let him just take the cysts out.i know i will go thru menopause but i will take an herbal one i have been researching about.i need to get a job like really bad and the more and more he puts this off it will hurt our family financially too.i know i will be out for a while that is ok with me,i just want to get this behind me so i can feel better.i also know that when u have cysts sometimes u don't have your period and with him wanting me to go thru my next cycle which if it comes it should come by next week.if i don't have my cycle he may tell me to wait longer and i am gonna be so upset.i hate this suffering.my stomach feels bloated or swollen all the time.i just hope he helps me out on the first and doesn't mess around with me.

The problem with their theory is that I have never taken BCP of any kind. After the birth of my last child 14 years ago I had a tubal ligation and the problems with heavy periods started. Not as much pain but the amount of blood lose was ridiculous. I just had a hyster adn am so glad I did.
