New to Board - Nervous & Hopeful

I have a bad case of outrageous bleeding, have had it for years. I tried a mirena, tried depo-provera (with spectacularly bad results) and finally tried controlling the bleeding with the pill. I finally pushed my GYN (through my GP) to go forward with an ablation, so she had me come in for a sonohystogram.

She (The GYN) found intracavity fibroids almost completely filling my U cavity. She says she can't do an ablation, and that the size/number of them would be hard to remove with a hysteroscopic resection. She has recommended an hysterectomy.

I'm nervous on one hand, and hopeful on the other. I have been suffering for four years, and I'm tired of the pain, massive bleeding, cramps, constant bleeding, and everything that goes with it.

I don't have a surgery date yet, I'm actually waiting to hear back from her office today so I may have one soon.

Nervous is ok

It's ok to be nervous, I've been trying to convince drs for years that the anemia will be much easier to treat when the blood's not running like a river out the other end..

Just know that once it's all over, the pain, bleeding, and general discomfort will be gone

Take care, keep reading, this site has helped me tremendously-

Let us know how you're doing-

Well, I talked to the doc just now. She recommends an LAH, says it's best to reduce bleeding and speedy recovery. She intends to leave my ovaries, if they look nice and healthy when she gets in there. They have turned it over to scheduling/insurance approval and their scheduling will call me early next week with my surgery date.

Thanks for the warm welcome, TiredNoMore/Selena
