Has your husband had a vasectomy???

I am curious how many of your husbands have had a vasctomy? Prior to my TAH on Oct 7th I took care of all birth control using my diaphram. (17 yrs)I am terrified of still getting pregnant I'm afraid that my husband will bust through my vaginal cuff and his sperm with meet up with an egg. It is called an abdominal pregnancy and can be life threatining to the woman. There are several cases documented. My husband went to the doctor to get a referral for the vasectomy but he foolishly told the Dr that I had a hysterectomy and now the Dr won't give us the referral. I'm pretty upset about it. We are going to go back together next Monday and try again to get the referral. What do you all think? Am I crazy? I think this is the least my DH can do for my peace of mind. I read about these woman bleeding after sex and I am terrified to risk it. It is my body and if I am not comfortable with "live" sperm I shouldn't have to take the risk when the vasectomy would do the trick. Please let me know your thoughts.

Has your husband had a vasectomy???

Wow, that's interesting. I've wondered if that could happen too. It seems to me that it's not the dr's business what your hubby wants to do with his "stuff". Birth control is a personal decision, not a "joint" one. But, yes, my dh had one after the birth of our second child 9 yrs ago. Actually, now I wonder if he feels like he had it for nothing?

Has your husband had a vasectomy???

I personally wouldnt worry about it. if he did burst through your cuff then you would probaly be in extreme pain and I dont think "finishing" would be an option at that point. My husband has had a vasectomy but I have heard of that abdominal pregnancy thing.... maybe when you go back to the dr he can give you some more info as to how it happens and the rarety etc.

Has your husband had a vasectomy???

(((CJL ))) I'm sending hugs.

You asked this question and voiced your concerns a few months ago on this thread:

https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=227893

You received alot of input from the members most of whom encouraged you to discuss this with your doctor.

As I said in that other thread (and then closed it too) the hysterectomy is considered birth control as you remove the womb and hinder the ability for the sperm to reach the egg.

Prior to your hyst would have been the best time to let your fears be known to your doctor. The second best time is now.
