Groin Pain...anyone?

I am 37 yrs old and last December I started to have intense stabbing pain in the left groin area. I went thru several tests, scans, ultra sounds even a colonoscopy I went for a lap last Feb they found little endo on back of my uterus. The Dr's started to look at me like I was looney and a head case. I started to see a Pain Specialist and I take pain meds and muscle relaxers daily.

No hernia or bone, muscle structure problems. No IBS, nothing shows on any blood tests.

I have always had painful periods one time for 6 months. I was on the pill for 20 yrs till last spring just to eliminate that as a cause. I started to have hormonal migranes. I bloat bad and really only have 1 good week a month.

Anyone else have this pain? My hips hurt when getting out of chairs and I cannot sit long. I am on a heating pad day and night lower back and groin.

I start the Lupron shot tomorrow...god I hope this works. It just seems hard to believe that endo can cause the pain in that place.

Groin Pain...anyone?

I too have this experience. I had an ablation and after that is when my pain started. It also is primarilly on my left side but is also on the right just not as bad. It hurts when I get up out of a chair or move after being sedentary for awhile but I also experience pain in my back and upper abdomen with bloating after I have done alot of walking. I had endometreosis at 20 yrs old and also have migranes with my cycles. I am scheduled for TAH on 1/15/08 due to the unsuccessful ablation, a strong family history of cancer, an abnormal pap smear myself and this pain. Not sure exactly what is going on but I am hoping that when they are in my abdomen for my surgery, it sheds some light on what is causeing my discomfort. I also hurt for the majority of the month and am hoping that this subsides with surgery. Let me know if you find out what is causing your discomfort and I hope that you find something that works for you.

Yep, I have pain in the groin area! At times it takes my breath away!

Have you ever consulted with an endometriosis specialist? It only takes a tiny bit of endometriosis in just the right area to cause a lot of pain!

I hope the Lupron proves to be benefital for you! If you do not already keep a pain diary, you might want to consider starting one to track your symptoms. I have found ReliefInsite’s online pain diary helpful.

Many best wishes to you!

worleybird-
I hope you get the answers you are looking for. You symptoms make mine seem minor I have only had this pain for over a year. I always had horrible periods but like many women...just thought it was part of being female.

Weiser-
I think I might start up a diary, it might be beneficial for sure.

My groin pain is so bad it takes me to my knees. The first time it happened I was sitting in my chair at work and blacked out....scared the he$$ out of me.

I really just want a diagnosis, a reason why I am taking pain pills, what is the cause? The one good thing is exercise feels good that is the only thing that helps.

But with being depressed my weight just keeps going up, up which makes my outlook worse. I do not seem to eat more but the pounds just keep packing on.

Thanks ladies!

Groin Pain...anyone?

Hello,
Had TAH on 1/15/08 and found endo on cervix, uterus and the bladder wall. Still waiting for pathology report and my two week check up. I plan on getting a copy of path report and surgery report since I am a nurse and will understand the lingo so I know exactly what is going on. Dr. said that those who have had endo in the past (which I had at the age of 21) seem to have a heightened pain level with any other episodes of endo due to the neurons (pain sensors) being so sensitive and ready to fire. I'm curious what the path report shows but just wanted to update you on what I know so far. I was discharged on 1/17/08 to home and seem to be doing ok other than although passing gas, not able to have bm yet. (I know TMI) but I keep taking Miralax and colace as dr. suggested. This just concerns me since the bowels were an issue prior to surgery. Keep us posted on what is happening with you and Good Luck!

Wow...worleybird, I hope you are doing okay? Let me know what the reports say.

I did the Lupron shot on 1/3/2008. I feel good, I have more energy, I feel better but the groin pain is still there?

Do they think your pain was deferred to the groin area? Please keep me posted and I hope you get to feeling better!

I am glad the Lupron shot is helping you feel better already!

Did you specifically ask your doctor about the groin pain? Have you tried ice? I actually use my Chillow (which I purchased here at the HysterSister Store) as it is cool but not ice cool.

I do have some groin pain right now and have that on my list of questions for one of my post op appointments tomorrow. Could be my current pain is from surgical positions but since that was one of my pain concerns going into this laparoscopy, I want to know more! I will try to remember to keep you posted!

in there and keep your chin up!

YES, I have been to about 15 Dr's trying to figure out what was causing this groin pain. I finally gave up and went to a pain specialist. I did not want to just mask the pain until I found out the cause...but I had to get out of pain.

That is what lead me to the Lupron shot. I finally gave up and went back to the Gyno who did the lap in Feb 07. He found endo behind my uterus but did not think it could cause groin pain.

After all the Dr's, tests, CT, MRI's...and now answers. I could not find any Dr's willing to do a diagnostic of the groin till they know what they are going in to do. I have been to 3 General Surgeons and none of them would do it.

Now the final theory could be endo in my groin? Dr said rare but could be. If the lupron does not work, then he agreed to do a lap of the groin area with a general surgeon.

No ice...it is -6 degrees, heat works for me. Thanks for the chin up! Let me know what you find out!

Groin Pain...anyone?

I've had groin pain too, especially after sitting for a while. It literally shakes me to the core when I stand up and makes my leg buckle. Its not all of the time, so maybe its a ligament issue?? I'll have to mention this next week when I go back to discuss the results of my trans vag ultrasound I just had yesterday.

Trish-
My groin hurts pretty much all the time. They cannot figure anything wrong with the ligament. They kept thinking it was a femeral hernia but nothing show on an MRI or Ct...only option endo?

Not sure I guess I will see if the Lupron shot takes the pain away. It has lessened the pain, but I still take pain meds....I hate those pills!

Keep me posted on your results..I am learning so much from you ladies, Thanks!

We share the same first name...Trish and I am one state below you in Iowa and freezing my butt off!
