1 day post op

Yesterday was my LAVH. I had an very enlarged uterus and even bigger fibroids. It was causing me so much pain. Heartburn, gas, bloating, cramping, bleeding. Just all around crippling pain.

Checked in at 5:30 am, surgery at 7:30. So scared but my nurses were amazing at calming me down. My surgery started about 1 1/2 hours late because my doc had to deliver a baby, which made my nerves even worse. I was ready to go....

We she finally came in and we began. Take deep breaths they said, and away I went. Woke up about 2 hours later and didn't have any problems. No swimmy head, no nausea, no pain. They took me to my room with my awaiting family and settled me in.

I am shocked about how much better I feel and how much pain I'm NOT in. I thought it would be so much worse than it is. I don't even have a lick of pain in my shoulders from the gas they filled me up with.

I'm home from the hospital as of an hour ago. I'm going to let my family take care of me for a few days. I will do what I can when I can and when I need or want help I will ask.

So many women have such good stories of there surgery and recovery, I can say as of now I also have a good story. It really is a scary thing and you have every right to be scared, but you can do it. YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

Definitely taking it easy. I'm not saying it doesn't hurt because It does but its nothing like I thought. My feet are up and will continue to be so for a while. I'm in no rush to feel better. It will come all on its own my boys will take good care of me.

I'm anxious and nervous for the days ahead. I'm so thankful for the Hystersisters community. So much support and information.

Welcome to the other side!

Please use the dedicated recovery progress reports thread for your surgery week (in the Post-Op Sub-Forum) to share general updates about your recovery.

However, if you have a specific question about your recovery, then please start a new thread here in the Main Post-Op Support Forum where sisters at all stages of recovery, and beyond, can share their experiences.

We're sending best wishes for a smooth recovery!
