new & worried

Hi, Im new to the group and am finding all the info very helpful. I am to have a TVH the end of Feb and I have so many concerns! I am really worried that this surgery will effect my sex life. Sure, I know bleeding & pain are not great for your sex life either but all this talk of not feeling contractions has frightened me a bit. I am not nervous about the surgery itself but about afterwards. Sometimes I think I will chicken out!

Everyone is different, but I had a TAH/BSO, almost a year ago (wow has the time flown by) and I can honestly say that sex is the same now as it was before.

Best wishes!

Hi Zena,You know that is one of those things where everyone is different.I am curious myself about that.I am at 4 weeks into my recovery today so the SEX thing isnt even allowed right now. Those are all normal fears and concerns though.I hope you find some peace with it and dont let that change your mind about surgery if the Dr. has said you need one.You will be better off getting rid of those medical problems. All will work out for the best.I have to say as I end here I think it quite odd we share the same name(as you know it is not very common). The only difference is I spell with an" I" and you with a" E".Take care and good luck.

Don't worry Zena !!!

Zena, welcome to hysterville.. I can't wait to see you on the other side. I am sure that your crown will look beautiful..
Please don't worry about sex after surgery. That was one of my biggest concerns as well, but it turned out that I was worrying for no reason at all. I don't think my "desire" is what it should be, but from what I have been told, it is still too early to be worried about that. Since I was left with one ovary, it is probable that it just isn't working 100% yet. Even though I would like my sex drive to show itself a little more often, things are certainly better than they were pre-op. When we do make love, it is wonderful.. . I haven't had to throw out any towels because I couldn't get the blood out..:cheer: Since we don't need protection from pregnancy or spilled blood, we can be spontanious. Aside from all of those benefits, the physical act of intercourse is so much more enjoyable... I think that I must have had something hanging out of my vagina because I always had the feeling that hubby was hitting something up there and more often than not, it caused quite a bit of pain.. All these years, I thought that all the pain and discomfort was normal.. Boy was I wrong.. Whatever was in the way must have been removed, because I haven't had any discomfort at all and hubby even noticed that there is nothing in his way.. Having my hyst. was the best possible thing I could do for my sex life. Don't worry, you will be fine and don't forget that you have a bunch of sisters rooting for ya..

Thanks ladies. This is such a life alternating experience, it helps to talk to others that have been there. Hubby tries but he doesnt necessarily share my concerns. His answer was "well we can't let you bleed to death". Boom. End of it. There is a problem, we will fix it. Typical male attitude.
