I was wondering what this ment. The doctor told my dh an me after sugery that my uteris was floppy an that it means the tissue is growing together. I dont mean to sound dumb but what does that mean. An did anyone else have this problem?

Quick question

I have not heard this, but I would definitely get back with the dr and have him explain it to you.

Quick question

Do you think that the doc could have possibly meant that your uterus was "boggy"? Mine was -- they surmised that it probably never contracted properly after my ds was born in 2000.

But the part about tissue growing together puzzles me. Please keep us updated and let us know what the doctor says.

Quick question

Guess only...

Maybe he ment it was a squishy uterus, which is common with adenomyosis, in which the lining of the uterus is growing into the uterus mucles.

Maybe that's it.

Quick question

I had a 'floppy' uterus. Dr explained that the ligaments holding the uterus in place had stretched as a result of having big babies, there are no exercises to fix this. Uterus flopped around inside the abdomen, touching ovaries & bowel and causing pain and eventually would have prolapsed big time, possibly taking the bladder with it. thank goodness it is gone!

Adenomyosis

Floopy uterus can be caused by being enlarged. Had they told you your uterus was enlarged or that the uterine wall was thickening prior to your hyst?
I had both, enlarged for over 10 yrs, but the wall was just diagnoised as thichening this yr. Had hysteroscopy biopsy but found only a fibroid. My hysterctomy showed that I had Adenomyosis which is a condition where you Entrometrium grows into the muscle wall of the uterus causing pain and excessive bleeding. I also had some Entrometriosis behind my uterus, probably the back pain that I was blaiming on getting older.
This may be what he is talking about.
Good Luck,
Dmgbp
I had my Uterus removed surgically on 6/28 . Do you work? Can I ask when you are planning on going back?

Quick question

I was told by docters each time I had regularly scheduled PAP smears that my cervix was hard to reach because my uterus was so tilted. Why did it take 22 years for one of them to say....your uterus is out of place due to all your fibroids...it really should be taken out. This wonderful doc is the one I trusted to do my TAH 8 days ago and I feel fantastic! It's like having delivered a bag of potatoes!!! YAY!

floppy uterus

thanks dmgbp for your informative reply. Yes, my uterus was enlarged. Don't know about the thickening but had lots of endo in abdominal cavity which as you know, was painful. As for work, I went back to do a couple of days a week during week 2 and 3 - easy to do as I am a temp and can choose my jobs, hours and days . Now, when I am feeling great the work has dried up!! Go figure! Still, I am catching up at home while I look for work - re-grouting the bathroom, cleaning windows, out in the garden....still can't do as much as I'd like as get tired more quickly than before but at least there is a handy couch to lie on and no pain, yay.
