Uterine Ablation (NOva Sure)
Does Uterine ablation work for adenomyosis? From what i have read here, it may or may not. I am 43 have had problems with extreme cramping for over the last 10 years. Doctor thinks I have adeno. Finally a diagnosis!!! But getting scared. Go to the doctors Thursday, so getting nervous. I do not want to be awake for the procedure. I was awake for the uterine biospy, and that was a painful nightmare. Other option was removal of the uterus. I think I would prefer that. Why do one thing and it not work when you can just remove the uterus. I know that everyone else has gone through this as well, I have read alot from this sight. Am I thinking straight, or just scared senseless.

Uterine Ablation (NOva Sure)
Hey Tina, I'm sorry for what you're going through. Be patient, I sometimes have had to wait for replies. If your like me, I can only get on this site a couple times a week. I doubt there are many logged on first thing in the morning.
As far as the ablation, I was under the impression that adeno can only be positively diagnosed with removal and biopsy of the uterus. I was never under the impression that ablations are used to treat that condition.
Ablations are performed for heavy bleeding. Do you have that along with the bad pain? I had an ablation 7 months ago, and would tell anyone to try it before considering a hys. It was only 2 days out of work wrapped around a weekend, and the recovery was not too bad. I also had the novasure but was under anesthesia. Had some other stuff done at the same time.
So if you're not having horrible bleeding I would question the doctor on why an ablation. Knowledge is power. ASK, ASK, and then ask again. You're not alone. I have gained so much knowledge from this site, particularly just reading others experiences. Please post again when you can.
HUGS,
Casei

Uterine Ablation (NOva Sure)
I had a rollerball style ablation, there are a few different methods and my doc says this one is more sucessful he doesn't like the novasure results and I personally haven't heard many good things about that method. My ablation stopped the bleeding completely, but it doesn't do anything at all for pain, I had 2 laps for endo and had the ablation along with the first one, they suspected I had adeno as well due to the pain but since I never had a hyster it was never proven, I ended up taking both ovaries out instead to stop the cycles and endo growth and that seems to have done the trick.

Uterine Ablation (NOva Sure)
Hello, I am new and very nervous. I am scheduled to have Hydro Thermablation on 12/10. Apparently, this procedure uses heated saline to destroy the lining of the uterus. My doc and I discussed a hys due to my excessive bleeding, anemia and pain during my periods. However, he suggested that I try this procedure first with the hope of not needing a hys.
Has anyone has this type of ablation before? The company is Boston Scientific. Any and all information is appreciated.

Uterine Ablation (NOva Sure)
Thanks for replying. Sorry my emotions got the best of me this AM. Pms has kicked in and some cramping on top of it all and my emotions got the best of me. Yes that is what I have been reading here and on other web sites that Adeno can mainly be diagnosis by removal of the uterus. I do not have heavy bleeding. I use to have really long heavy periods, with large clots. NOw I just have light periods with extreme pain. I plan on asking alot of questions of Thursday. ONe of them is why does he feel this will work for my perticular situation. Because I dont not honestly understand why he does think that. And being 43 and not planning on ever becoming pregnant, why should I do the ablation and not just go and have the uterus removed, so I can get on with my life.
Thanks for listening
Tina

Hey libertybel
I see your in the same boat as I am. We can be nervous together. I know two people who have had the ablation. ONe who had the Heated one and One who had the one where they freeze your uterus. Both did fine with them.
What kinda of diagnosis did he give you? Endo or Adeno?
I wish you the best, but just keep reading at this site and you will be amazed at the stuff you will read.
