3 days post hysterectomy - laying on my side

After reading older threads, I'm ok 2 days post op? Laproscopic complete. I dreaded recovery, laying on my back. It feels sooo much better to be on my side. Still on pain meds every 4 hrs. 5 small meals. Soy milk to help with gas ! I dont want to hinder recovery.

As long as it feels comfortable, you should be fine. Hope you have a smooth recovery!

Re: 3 days post hysterectomy - laying on my side

Go for it. I slept on my side the night after surgery and every night since until I had my staples removed (13 days). After that I slept on my belly!

You may find that holding a pillow against your belly makes sleeping on your side more comfortable.

I didnt have staples or packing ( my girlfriends swear I do but I dont!). 5 small incisions. Zero drainage. No previous csections. Weird feelings but I feel better after sleeping on my side. Like recovery just took a happy turn !

Re: 3 days post hysterectomy - laying on my side

The doc wanted me on my side the second day to help with the gas. So if it feels good then do it.
