LAVH for Complex Hyperplasia 2 days away and terrified!
I am scheduled to have a LAVH in 2 days and having serious second thoughts. The surgeon I have "doesn't return phone calls" and I have some questions that I would like answered that I didn't get to in the pre-op. Originally I was told they would only take the uterus due to a DX of complex hyperplasia with atypia. When I briefly saw her for the pre-op this past week, she changed the story to a LAVH to remove the uterus AND cervix, and possibly the remaining ovary. After doing so much research here, I am concerned about removing the cervix for various reasons, ie. prolapse, pelvic floor support, sexual dysfunction (and definitely dont want to go on HRT by removing the ovary!), and wondering why a D&C wasn't performed to verify that the surgery was even needed. To back up a bit, I had one ovary removed last year which led to the DX of the hyperplasia from the pathologist. I was put on progestins to try to "reverse" it and/or buy time. It was suggested I see a gyn oncologist, who is the surgeon operating in 2 days who said she sees hysterectomy as the only option. Should I proceed and assume she knows what she's talking about and just go with it? Should I request a D&C to verify that it was not converted back to a normal state? Can I request just the uterus out supracervically? Should I just cancel and get another opinion? SO many questions (my regular OB doctor is out on vacation of course!) and I can't get an answer...totally frustrated!!!

Get all of your questions answered before your surgery. Call their emergency number if you have too......... I panicked a day before mine too and that is what I did. I felt better getting affirmation..... I was a complete mess for a good month before and had loads of questions. The day of my surgery, I let go of my fears and put my faith in God and the hands of the surgeon............. All is good today : )

How long ago did you have yours and what did you end up having? How is "everything" working now? Any problems whatsoever?
