Re: Best Wishes to our December 07 Princesses

I'm in NZ so mine is tomorrow our time. I don't get to eat much solid today or tomorrow so the faster the time goes the better; somewhat surprisingly though I'm allowed boiled eggs. Bowel prep this afternoon and eldest boy's birthday party before that.
I'm a little nervous, but I know that'll be worse tomorrow morning and my neck is showing signs of stress. Charging up the iPad and the knitting is ready to go too.

I'm also having bowel surgery so if you've not been told to do the bowel prep it's probably not necessary. My endometriosis has invaded my bowel wall so I need a resection.

I have bowel prep, but it's not the magnesium citrate like most people. I have to do an enema tomorrow night. I have to have an all liquid diet all day tomorrow too. It seems that every doctor is different.

Re: Best Wishes to our December 07 Princesses

I'm and to you as you get ready for surgery. My sincere wish for you is an uneventful surgery and a quick, easy recovery.

I will be your Sunshine Sister joining you on your Recovery Progress Thread for those members having surgery from December 7th through December 13th. I will be checking in on you to see how you're doing, to provide support, and to cheer you on during your recovery journey.

A few things I found helpful during my initial recovery:

  • A small pillow to support my belly for side sleeping
  • Enough pillows to support me when I was sitting up in bed
  • An area beside my bed to sit drinks, snacks, phone, meds, lip balm, hand cream, tissues, etc.
  • Having things to keep me occupied while I was resting, but not sleeping (iPad, TV, DVDs, etc.)
  • The alarms on my watch and an alarm clock to clue me in when it was time for my meds

Here are a couple of links you may find helpful:
  • Mr. HysterSisters is a site that helps our loved ones learn how to support us.
  • There certainly are a lot of abbreviations on here. What do they all mean?
    Abbreviations
  • There's a lot of great info in the Pre-Op Articles and those articles can help answer lots of .

Remember to look for your Recovery Progress Thread once you are able after surgery. You can access it by clicking here--> Hysterectomy Recovery Reports after your surgery or by clicking on "User CP" and looking in the "Your Surgery Information" section.

You can do this! The nerves can be unsettling, but remember to breathe. Distract yourself by staying busy. Finish cleaning your house (you get a "get out of jail free card" on that task for awhile ), get some meals prepared and frozen, do any last minute grocery shopping, prepare your recovery nest, enjoy time with your family, and do something for yourself that you enjoy doing.

Remember to
Pamper the Princess!
