BiPolar & Orgasm questions
1. I am bi-polar (not severe) and on meds for it, depression and anxiety. I've heard that because of the severe hormonal impact of removing your ovaries has on bi-polar, do NOT remove them, if at all possible. My doctor says that it's my decision. I don't have any problems with my ovaries at this moment. Just wondering if there are any women out there that have experienced this.
2. I've also heard that orgasms after surgery are either completely gone or a lot less pleasurable, less intense. But then again, I've read articles/blogs that some women say it took a while, but they felt they reason they couldn't have one was more psychological than physiological, and that eventually they were able to learn to achieve orgasms again, but just not the same magnitude. Any advice??

Re: BiPolar & Orgasm questions
I can I only respond to #1, as I'm too newly post-op to try for an orgasm yet. I have bipolar (also mild and med-responsive). I consulted with my psychiatrist pre-op and she upped my saphris and told me what to watch for. So far, so good. I'm only 15 days post-op, though. I've had some agitation and was a bit weepy last night for the first time, but we (DH and I) are watching my moods closely. We will manage whatever happens.

Re: BiPolar & Orgasm questions
I can't speak to question #1, however I can address #2. I am a little more than 2 months post op and so far I have had no problems with orgasm. At first they were not as intense as before the surgery, but after about 2 weeks the intensity returned and neither of us now notice any difference. So far so good. Each per person is different, but that is my experience.

Re: BiPolar & Orgasm questions
I can't answer the ovary question, although if you have no issues I wouldn't remove them. Why take the risk?
I've had two orgasms since my surgery (not cleared for sex yet, just curious so I took my bits for a test run) and they were both fantastic. Would have been better with the actual act of sex, but I'll take what I can get!
Good luck!
