Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 7/17: What do I need

How long is your hospital stay? I stayed overnight, what I was glad to have was my phone and iPad, toothbrush/toothpaste, a little make up and my glasses (normally wear contacts). What I wished I had were hard candies or gum for dry mouthand a small fan. What I brought and didn't use: books, robe. I couldn't focus well enough to read a book and couldn't easily get the robe on with the in and all. Afterwards, I really didn't need anything special, other than underwear that completely covered my incisions. I recommend wearing something very comfortable and easy in, you can wear the same clothes out. I wore a sundress and flip flops.

I'm having surgery tomorrow, too. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I'm taking a pillow and leaving it in the car for the ride home to hold against my tummy. I'm taking my toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, lotion, hard candy, glasses, phone and my robe. That's it. I plan on wearing home what I wore into the hospital.

I brought a heating pad for my abdomen, my own pillow and warm PJs.

Hi Tray7069,
First I wanted to send you best wishes on your procedure!
I took a comfortable change of clothing, a very loose fitting sundress and slip on sandals for my discharge date. Depending on the number of days you are staying you may want to change into a front closure nightgown. The nurse and doctor will need access to your incision sites so be mindful of this if you change.
These are the only items I took with me and I stayed two nights. The best advice I can give is toTake this time to rest and be pampered 🌷
