Hysterectomy 1 Week Away (1/23) and I'm Catching A Cold

Today I woke up with a stuffy head and runny nose and my surgery is in exactly 1 week. I know they will cancel for a cough, but what about a head cold? I will probably lose my mind if they cancel this surgery. I'm already an emotional wreck. I can't take any vitamins or anything over the next week to try to fight this. Is there anything I can do?

Hey there. I ended up getting a sinus infection the week of my surgery. My cough was bad enough to where I couldn't get my surgery. As long as your lungs and throat are clear, I don't think they would reschedule. It's hard because you can't take anything. I ended up using a couple essential oils around my nose and ears to help me, and I did that up to two days before surgery. Rest...that's the best thing you can do. Chicken noodle soup...Google more natural ways to help, is my suggestion. Good luck with your surgery!

Call your doctor to discuss best way to deal with your head cold.
You can eat healthy fruits/veggies, nuts, this will give you vitamins, especially oranges for bit C

and by your doctor be sure to contact the surgeon on what and what not to take and if you have had pre op with the hospital already you need to also call them and let them know that as well.

If you're making chicken soup, use the dark meat for a good dose of immunity-boosting zinc, and add some hot peppers, which can help to clear up your congestion. Also have some yogurt or kefir, to support the 70% of your immune system that's derived from your intestinal bacteria. You should be okay. I had to reschedule my surgery twice because of serious congestion. When I showed up for the third time I had a stuffy nose and it wasn't an issue.

I had a horrible sinus headache a week prior to , everyone in my office and home were sick. I loaded up on vitamin c and zinc. It cleared me up I swear in 3 days. Rest, fluids abd add those vitamins. Xo I hope this passes quick!!!

Oh no! So sorry to hear this! Would Zicam be something safe that you could take? I know that usually helps cut a cold short for us! Hope you feel lots better soon!

I've been loading up on zinc and vitamin c filled foods. I'm also sleeping with a Vicks vaporizer. These methods seem to be working. I am definitely breathing better already. I have 3 days to clear up. Wish me the best!
