what post op questions

Well i finally got a call from my hospital for my post op appointment (13 sept) What do they do at the follow up will they do an internal, to be honest i cant stand the thought of that, just the thought of it makes me cringe, i also need to discuss hrt with him so what sort of questions should i ask ( i know when i get there i will go blank ) Any info will be appreciated thanks
TAH/BSO, for chronic pelvic/ovary pain, heavy painful period, history pre-cancerous cells, colcoscopy, mirena , hysteroscopy, polypectomy

I'm not sure what your exam will be like, but my doctor did an internal exam at 6 weeks. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, not painful at all. I kept my ovaries so I don't know what kinds of hormone questions to ask. I made a list of questions as I thought of them (since I forgot to at my 2 week checkup) and then went down my list and asked every one of them.

Check out the "Checkpoints" for weeks 5 & 6. There's a list of questions. I printed it out and am taking it with me today along with some added questions. Write things down as you think of them over the next few weeks so you won't forget. I found that I am very forgetful since the surgery.
I had an internal exam at 2 weeks and 4 weeks, because of the lingering bacterial infection I have and it wasn't bad. I'm sure I'll have one today, too.

You really need an internal exam so your dr can check that you're healed before clearing you for work, sex, lifting, etc. For most women it's not painful at all. I had to have an internal at ONE week for infection but it was fine.
The Checkpoints is a great place for questions. Basically you need to know what if any restrictions you still have, when to return to him, what to look for as far as further complications arising, etc.

I did not have an internal at 2 weeks. My doc said that she wanted to leave all of that alone to heal & would do one at my 6 week check up. I had my cervix, uterus & ovaries removed therefore having a vaginal cuff. Hope all goes well for you!

Thank you for all your comments and i will be looking at the checkpoints and make a list of questions to take with me, as i feel now i think i have healed pretty well as i have hardly any pain, no discharge or bleeding, nothing. I do have a lump in my stomach but that appeared a couple of weeks before the surgery so i will ask him about that.
