Day 2 or is it day 1?

I had my surgery (LAVH) at 8:30am yesterday and was discharged at 2:30pm. Today I called the Dr because I feel so much pressure. The nurse said this is technically day 1 (I thought I was at day 2). She told me to use ice for 15-20 mins and to make sure to take my meds.

I felt ok all day. I took a shower tonight and found my 3rd laproscopic incision. (I thought I only had 2) Now all 3 ache and my belly feels like there is a bowling ball in it. SO HEAVY and so much pressure.

Lastly, I kept saying that my knee hurts to my partner. I looked and noticed that it was scraped. It looks like a rug burn. I didn't have it before surgery. Any ideas on how they may have scraped it?

Thank you all for your support. I don't know how I could get through this without my hystersisters!

Re: Day 2 or is it day 1?

Surgery day is Day 0, so the day after surgery is Day 1, etc. Since your surgery was March 29, March 30 (today) would be post op day 1.

The pressure you're feeling sounds normal. You are in the earliest of early days and it will take some time to recover from the surgery. Ice and ibuprofen can be helpful with discomfort and swelling.

You may never know for sure how your knee became scraped... but it may have happened when transferring you onto/off of the OR table.

Please feel free to join your Recovery Thread. This is a great place to recover with women who had surgery the same week as you. It's nice to know what you're experiencing is what others are experiencing too! Here is the link.

Now is the time to rest, drink lots of water, and take short frequent walks around the house. At first just walking to the bathroom may be enough! Start preparing for your first BM by taking stool softeners.

Day 2 or is it day 1?

It is normal it is cause of the way you were positioned for the surgery. My legs were not scraped but my right leg hurt so bad I called my Dr and he explained the position I was in for the surgery and that my legs were primary support for holding my body that way cause your head and upper body is tilted down toward the floor. I an 4 weeks post op and still get cramps in my abdominal area and have to stop what I am doing and sit down. I hope this helps hunny.
