The Blues

Hi sisters! I'm exactly one week out from my TAH. This first week went surprisingly smoothly. I had been on auto pilot resting, medicating, and walking around.

I kept both ovaries, So imagine my surprise when this morning I woke up sad and emotional. Crying at just about everything. I knew there would be discomfort but this was out of the blue. Tomorrow I get the staples removed and results from pathology and I know that's in the back of my mind. Have any other princesses experienced this case of blues a week or so out? Should I discuss this with my doctor tomorrow? I can only hope this passes soon!

Thanks for listening and any advice you may have.

Re: The Blues

If it is overwhelming- then by all means talk to your doc - do not be afraid to ask them anything - they have heard it all...

I did not experience it but have read that sometimes the ovaries can 'go to sleep' for a little bit - due to being bumped and pushed around during surgery. Or it could be a hormone storm - if they took cysts or anything- they may not have been working at full speed.

And it could of course be the pathology report hanging, everythin during recovery is an unknown and can be nerveracking...

Could also just be your bodies reaction to surgery.

Hope this straightens out for you very soon

Re: The Blues

Hi Marley L, I know exactly where you are coming from, I posted a few days about pretty much the same thing and all the responses I got were from women all feeling the same. I had my TAH 3 weeks ago today and earlier this week I was an emotional mess, I kept one of my ovaries so I figured I wouldn't go through this. Apparently its things settling down., Just remember you have just had major surgery. If you need to cry then let it out, don't fight it or you'll end up feeling worse. You will get out of this blue feeling, I know its hard but hang in there.
