Need info/advice neverending period (updated)

Hi, A little history. I'm 32. My periods have always been regular. I have a tilted cervix, and uterus. I've been on my period for about 6 weeks now. It is progressively getting worse. My period has been crazy since I had my tubes tied 3 yr. ago. I don't have any pain or cramping. I just can't stop bleeding. I've been to my family doctor and he has checked my thyroid--it's fine. I was a little anemic, so as a precaution, I take an iron supplement. He wanted to put me on hormones, but since cancer runs rampant in my family, he said he wasn't comfortable with the risks of them. I agree. I've had high blood pressure since I was 20, so birth control pills are mostly out. I've had an IUD, hated it. The Depo shot...gained 50 lbs, no thankx. I'm not sure what other options I have. I am not hurting, just bleeding. I have large blood clots. TMI i know. Even at night, I wake up constantly because of a sudden GUSH of blood. I go to the gyn on the 19th, but I'm not sure what tests they can do, because i'm bleeding so much.

Re: Need info/advice neverending period

You can talk to your gyn about having an ablation. I myself am 32 and have had problems for 20+ years now.Hormones are not my friend, I did not gain weight on depo, but had 1 shot and had a period that lasted 14 months. I had my tubes tied 8 years ago. My hysterectomy will be in Oct. I chose against the ablation because I have small fibroids, but some women have great success with it, some don't. You have time before your appointment, try doing some research on the different ablation procedures, It may be worth trying if you aren't ready for a hysterectomy.
My Dr. told me bluntly that I need a hysterectomy this year and I trust her 100%. It was confirmed by my Urologist because of " my big boggy uterus".
This sight is full of wonderful information and experiences...so ask or vent away.
(((HUGS))) to you.

Re: Need info/advice neverending period

Since your problem is bleeding only and no pain then ablation would be a great place to start. You must go into ablation understanding that it may fail and so then you may end up needing a hysterectomy. But, it is a great alternative to try first if you have no pain. I'm not sure if it will work with your uterus being tilted, so that's something you want to ask your doctor.

Went to GYN today!!!

K so i went to the GYN today. I'm still bleeding, but not as heavily. They did a pap smear, and a uterine biopsy. The dr. said that with my symptoms and family history of cancers that we would go ahead and do the biopsy. Even tho there was a lot of blood, they helped me to feel like it was ok.My iron count was fine. She prescribed me some bc pills. 2 mths worth to b taken in a week. She said main priority today was to stop bleeding. I go back in 2 weeks for results and to discuss where to go from here. She did say that the bc pills were a temporary fix and that a hysterectomy wasn't out of the question yet. She said my uterus felt small, but was tilted and so was my cervix. She wasn't very hopeful that I would be a good canidate for a procedure like Novasure.

simple granular hyperplasia

K i went back for my biopsy results. It shows simple granular hyperplasia, dr said the lab didn't say whether atypia or not. She decided to put me on Provera for 3 months. Then I go back for another biopsy to see if there are any changes. I've had the Depo shot before, but she said that the provera was different...i hope so. cuz i gained like 50 lbs on the shot. I'm hoping the next 3 months fly by and things straighting out. So tired of my life revolving around the nearest restroom, and what type of pad/tampon to wear this time.

Re: Need info/advice neverending period (updated)

Keep us posted on your progress. Hopefully your issues straighten out in the next 3 months. It is good your doctor is seeking other alternatives to surgery before just jumping in as some doctors do. I know the wait is horrid and anxiety provoking, but maybe you'll find a solution soon!
