a lot of stabbing, breath catching pain

I have been in steady discomfort most of this past weekend, my right side from my mid belly button down, I have this steady stabbing pain, that literally catches your breath. I dont know if it is my uterus that has moved up more, or it is whatever has been pushed up is now poking where it shouldn't be. But man does this thing hurt.

I find out tomorrow when my surgery is this month. But in the meantime has anyone had this type of discomfort before? I've been using a heating pad, and/or heating blanket but nothing really takes the pain away.

Re: a lot of stabbing, breath catching pain

Do you still have your appendix? That type of pain is sometimes typical of appendicitis.

Talk to your doctor right away and explain the symptoms, find out if they have any answers for you.

Best wishes.

Sharon68,

Appendix sounds like a good guess. If the pain doesn't go away or gets any worse, call your doc. Seeing your doc tomorrow is a good thing.

I hope you feel better and all goes well at your appointment.

Re: a lot of stabbing, breath catching pain

Thank you ladies for your support.

I called our health link where we have registered nurses to speak to. She said based on my symptoms that I should probably go to the e/r and have someone perhaps do an ultrasound to see where my uterus is sitting and whether it has pinched something that is causing me this discomfort.

So my b/f and I will be heading to the e/r to ask someone to see me.

I did inquire about appendix but I was told it is in the lower right quadrant and I just figured that if it was lower and this is upper, that it wouldn't be affected? Lord I hope not

You'll be in my thoughts. I hope it isn't anything serious, , but you're doing the right thing by going to the er.

Re: a lot of stabbing, breath catching pain

Well 6 hours of waiting, blood and urine are clear, and it isn't appendix, it appears to be my fibroid putting pressure on areas.

Either way I am somewhat frustrated as the triage lost my original urine sample! How do you lose a sample that is properly id?

See my gynecologist tomorrow, can't wait!
