Received my ticket to the Castle today!

When I went out to check my mail today, my pre-op package was waiting for me. My surgery is scheduled for June 20, at 7:00am. The hospital that I am having it at offers a "hotel stay" free for patients that are having surgery before 7:30am the next day. I plan to take advantage of that, even though I do live 2 miles from the hospital , it mostly has to do with being at the hospital by 4am - rather be there ahead of time!
My pre-op is May 24th - bloodwork, ekg, and other lovely poking and prodding and my pre-op with the Dr. is on June 16.
Ins. wise, I'm not too worried, since when I had my emerg. surgery, the notes in the bill stated "surgery due to life threating event" - boy that made me feel good, YIKES! I have to call the ins and document it on a sheet from the hospital, stating who I talked to, time and date, and what was said (that is pretty neat, CYA's royally) Our ins is pretty good, I've only had to pay $68 for my emerg. surgery - which has totaled to $24,000 as of yesterday's last "This is not a Bill" bill.
I guess I'm nervous, anxious, just ready to get this done and over with. We get to go file our fost-adopt paperwork for our homestudy this coming week and start planning for that (homestudy will be in July). I just find it bizarre that, here I am, 33 yrs old, having a TAH, taking everything - leaving nothing behind- and yet starting a family through adoption.
I feel like I am going in reverse to go foward! Oh well, rather that than not living life at all!

How lucky you are.. I had to drive 65 miles to the hospital and had to be there at 6:00am.. I was the first patient at 7:30.. I asked the surgen if he had his coffee. What a positive out look you have.. you go girl.. my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

That's a lot on your plate right now but it sounds like you have everything under control.
Best wishes for all, I have an adopted nephew and he's a real jewel

Hi Mona, You sure have alot going on. Good luck with all that needs to be done for the adoption. I would definitely take advantage of the hotel stay. What a nice idea. You originally had the same date for surgery as I do. I''m right there with you nervous, anxious, and can't wait for it to be over. Take care. Keep in touch. I,m 6 days before you. Cathy
