2 wks post op - pain and fever

Could use some P&PT. Today is the 2 week mark from my hysterectomy. I was doing fairly well till today. I had had some pain around my pubic bone earlier in the week that they checked for a UTI. It came back negative and the nurse said it could be pain from manipulation of the bladder during surgery.

I woke up this morning with a lot of discomfort in my abdomin. I felt bloated so I thought maybe it was just gas. So I took a Gas-x and that didn't help and it seemed to be hurting worse. This afternoon I started running a low grade fever so I took some Motrin and that helped with the pain and fever. As soon as it wore off though it has gone up to 101. Not really a huge fever, but considering the circumstances there is something going on. I have my 2 week post op appt tomorrow anyway so I'll get checked out. I obviously have some kind of infection. If it's not a UTI, there is something going on there.

I kinda have the same problem. I ran fever the other night, but it went away. Please let me know what the doc says.

I had the same thing happen. I had a fever since the day of surgery ranging from 99 to 100.8. And just as quickly as it came, the fever went a way about 2 1/2 weeks into recovery. I still have little aches and pains, but nothing bad.

There seems to be an infection, though they can't determine the cause. An
ultrasound showed a pocket of fluid that could be the culprit. They gave me a prescription for a strong broad antibiotic so that will hopefully take care of whatever is going on.

They said I could try to return to work next week, though I still tire very easily. I hope it's just the infection that is dragging me down. If that gets better over the weekend, I think I might try to return on Monday. It may just be half days for a while.
