pain on my left side

I had my surgery last Monday and have been experiencing sharp shooting pains on the left side of my incision. They can stop me in my tracks and are quite annoying. I've heard that the bowels are over there and these pains are gas pains. Anyone else experience pains in the area??

It might be that you are moving in such a way that something is pulling or you may need to rest more. I would give the dr a call if it continues to be a problem and nothing you try relieves it.

I also had pain and swelling on my left side. My Dr. said to remember that I had just had major surgery and that my bowels were there. It could possibly be a bm on the move.

Yep, that would be the bowels trying to get in order, I think. I also had sharp pain there prior to my surgery, and believe it to be what my doctor said was an adhesion of my ovary to my bowel there. Still got a bit of a twinge on that side, and i'm two months out.

I am 5 weeks post op and still get those pains on that side. Nothing crippling like before, but uncomfortable. After surg, the pains were a little more intense. I would sometimes have to stop and just grab on to something. It gets better, you are still early in your recovery. If things get worse I would call the dr. Good luck!
