Owie...my episiotomy stitches!

I thought I was over the hump when it problems! I had a TVH with multiple repairs done on March 8th. Now my episiotomy stictches are really hurting. Aren't the supposed to dissolve and go away on their own? Anyone else feeling this? Ow ow ow.....it is getting worse. Bad part is I had to reschedule my 2 week appointment that was supposed to be this coming Wed till the following week. Maybe I need to call the nurses?

I had a TVH with bladder sling and rectocele repair. I had an episiotomy also. One thing that helped me was tucks pads. Are you using them? You can buy them over the counter. Also there is epiform that is a prescription. I would suggest you call you doctor and at least let them know about how uncomfortable you are. Just make sure you keep it clean down there. Don't wipe, just pat yourself dry. Also, I got a spray bottle and used warm water and sprayed on that area after I used the restroom. Ask you doctor if he could get you a peri-bottle. Better than a spray bottle, because you can squirt warm water on it.

Good luck. It will get better. Once it heals and closes, you won't know you had it.

Hi Janice,
You think after having 4 other episiotomy's I would remember how they hurt! Not to be gross, I just took a shower and took a look. There is what looks like a blood blister and a little localized swelling. I called the Dr. and left a message but I am not sure if they are in the office on Saturdays. I still have some numbing spray and put a little of that on there but I don't think it is doing anything. I will get the tuck and see if I can get a squeeze bottle from the Walgreens later. Thanks!

Cheryl:

Not gross. Do you know how many times I have checked down there to see what is going on??? I had a similar problem. I had like a small hole at the bottom of my episitomy with a bump next to it. It took weeks. The bump is gone, the the very small hole is still there. My doctor said there was a stitch still inside, and once it came out it will close. The stitch came out, but the small hole is still there. I go back on the 31st. I wonder if he will have to stitch close??

I had one episiotomy with my first child. Boy, it does hurt. Hope it gets better.
