Never had cramps before but do after ablation

Hello,
I had an endometrial ablation, D&C, and hysteroscopy 11 days ago. I had the surgery because I was having prolonged bleeding that interfered with my sex life. I had no pain. I never knew when my period was coming - it was about every 2 weeks (would last about 10 days) and I had random spotting all the time. There were probably only 5 days out of the month that I didn't need to wear a panty liner or tampon.

I felt fine for the first 10 days except for a little burning/throbbing feeling down there that went away after the first 2 days. I have felt constipated since the surgery though.

On the 9th day, I started to have a pain in my left groin area where my ovary is. On the 10th day, I started to have menstrual-like cramps and pain in my lower back. I also had bloating and gas. The pain started to go down the back of my legs and my hips. I also have upper and lower abdominal pain. I've had no bleeding.

I also feel pressure in my rectum and that whole uterine area.

I NEVER HAD CRAMPS BEFORE THIS SURGERY. I think the last time I had cramps was after the birth of my 2nd child. I'm really scared and emotional that I made the wrong decision.

My friends and husband say I need to give it time since I just had this surgery. I just hope I didn't trade one set of problems (prolonged bleeding) for another (pain which is worse than bleeding). I'm nervous that maybe I have adenomyosis but wouldn't he have seen that when he did an ultrasound or the hysteroscopy? He is a VERY good doctor that people get on waiting lists to see.

I would be so grateful for any advice/comments. Thank you.

I’m sorry you’re having problems that bring you here but hope you'll find information that is helpful.

Whilst you're waiting for any replies, you may wish to visit a dedicated endometrial ablation discussion board <link> www.endometrialablationboard.yuku.com for indepth post-op information and experiences. Please be sure to contact your doctor, however, if things aren't improving.

Best wishes and positive thoughts!

Re: Never had cramps before but do after ablation

faithander,

I'm so sorry your surgery seems to have created more problems for you. I have suffered with the types of pain you are describing and I'm confident my hyster solved the vast majority of them. I hope that you will be able to get your issues resolved soon.

I just had my Hyster for numerous and large symptomatic fibroids and abnormal paps. The pathology report came back with adenomyosis, too.

Unfortunately, adenomyosis is not detectable, or at least not easily so. My Dr., who I wouldn't give up for anything, was not able to detect it, even when the uterus was sitting on the tray in front of her - she had to wait for pathology, same as me.

The diagnosis wasn't surprising, but was not really suspected either as all my problems could be attributed to fibroids alone.

Again, I wish you all the best.
