Re: Did you get a 2nd opinion?

I did not get a 2nd opinion. I was so happy that my insurance referred me to a civilian (not military) doctor that as long as he sounded like he knew what he was doing, I was going with what he said. As it turned out, I really liked the doctor they sent me to. He sounded like he knew what he was doing. And his decisions wasn't "let's do some more tests". He flat out told me that I needed to have a laparoscopy to see what was doing on, because scans usually don't show the full extent of what is happening.

Then when he went in and saw that I had endo and an ovary that had pretty much exploded, he gave me my options and told me to think about it. About a month later, I knew the hysterectomy is what was right for me.

Now had I been sent to a doctor that didn't seem very knowledgeable or onw that rushed me into a decision, I probably would have balked at the idea and possibly sought a 2nd opinion.

Re: Did you get a 2nd opinion?

I did get a second opinion. My doctor actually suggested it. Since I am only 26 the doctor said I should really consider it. I had a second opinion and I was happy that I did.

Re: Did you get a 2nd opinion?

I actually had 4---and the last was the worst. Was told I am too fat for a hysterectomy....but that I definitely needed a biopsy to be sure it isn't cancer!!!

I think more than one opinion is the best way to go unless you fully trust you dr

good luck....

Re: Did you get a 2nd opinion?

I actually had three opinions, my women's health physician, the gynocologist that she sent me to and the gynocological oncologist that the gynocologist sent me to. Surgery is the 21st of May. I am ready.
