Belly bands

I have a LSH (possible LAVH or TAH) scheduled for May 5.
I had some complications with an infection in my c-section incision 7 yrs ago and my DR said there was a possiblity of too much scar tissue to do a LSH so I won't know what I am having until it happens. My whole c-section experience was a nightmare and the recovery was very painful. I was never given any type of belly band after my c section so I was unsure if having one this time around would reduce my risk of getting an infection if I indeed end up with an incision? Has anyone been in this position?
My DR said she is willing to give me a band (provided by the hospital) so I'm not sure if the Hyster Sister Bands are any better? Also wondering if someone can detail the swelly belly band? Is it really wet? I don't have much torso so I don't know if the band with the cold pack would be too wide.
Thanx

Re: Belly bands

I'm not sure the band is used for reducing the infection. I thought it is for adding more support to our back so we'll be more comfortable. In fact, wounds heal better when exposed to air (oxygen), so you probably want to be careful not to cover up the wounds too soon, too tight.

I credit my good recovery to the early 'walk' after my surgery - walked 30 minutes (holding to the IV pole) just 7 hours after I had waken up from the surgery. And I was discharged from the hospital just 24 hours after I had arrived. I tried not to get the scar area wet for several weeks to prevent infection. So far so good.

The Hyster Sister Band looks really good. I'm sure it's adjustable for any size. I happened to find one in my In-law's house and thought it was really a God-sent.

Hope others will chime in on the subject. And I hope you have a uneventful surgery this time and without complications.
