A cheery 6 week report

I had a LSH with a cervical coring and a rectocle repair. Big uterus with many fibroids (ugly looking things - doc showed me pictures). Outside of a blood clot scare at two weeks (I had a pulmonary embolism 6 years ago), no problems.
I was cleared by my doc for all activities, in moderation, of course. I am still tired and have some pain at a few sites( surgery took 4 hours because of the size of the fibroids and involvement of other organs) but I really feel on my way to recovery.
I think the turning point was at five weeks when I noticed that I was no longer walking carefully but striding along, only remembering the surgery when maybe I moved and had a twinge from one of my sore areas. I am sleeping OK and am off all pain meds. I am careful with my lifting but that's about it.
I'll be on an estrogen cream but no HRT since I am past menopause(kept my ovaries). My husband and daughter have both remarked on how much skinnier I look.
Just wanted to post and offer some hope to those ladies who have had their surgery and are wondering if they will ever feel better. You will, don't worry.

A cheery 6 week report

Couln't agree with you more!!! It definetly gets better you just gotta let it all unfold ahead of you.
I had a great healing journey. The first week was brutal but I expected that,I just had major surgery!!! When I came home I took an assisted shower and slipped right into my bed with freshly cleaned flannel sheets.DH was amazing through it all! I took one toridol and went to sleep. That was my last toridol, took motrin for a couple of days and that was the end of pain meds for me.I walked straight up the first time I got out of bed in the hospital and have walked that way since. My biggest hurdle was the gas pain and after reading many posts on this site,WATER was the key and sure enough that was the ticket I needed.I started some light spotting around the end of week two that continued for about a week and a half and I was never truly concerned with it! Movements that would make me cringe are but a memory now.I return to work on March 20th with never again having to worry about what could be trickling down my leg!!! or cramps SOooo bad that I figure I'm in labour to only go to the washroom and deliver egg size clots.Sorry may be TMI but this is all over for me now.
So for you sisters out there second guessing yourselves and simply feeling down and out it does get better, trust me.
Remember water-water-water,don't look too far ahead, handle the day at hand, not how you wish you could be back 100%.Won't happen right away.Be patient with your body and listen carefully to it-at times it can speak quite loudly!
Another important point to remember-please do not compare youself to others-We all heal on different levels and just because someone went to get groceries done 2 weeks out doesn't mean that is your story!!

Continued happy healing to you all.
